Nice eye patch, Kiyomi. The new cut to the hair is equally delicious
Reminds me of Michelle Rodriguez in Machete.
Nothing like getting messages from fellow Hunter Valentine fans—telling me they love my shirt design.
3:46-3:53. That was a cute move Kiyomi. Hahahaha.
Look at those beautiful smiles.
Showing our appreciation for Hunter Valentine.
You know you want my shirt too. ;]
I miss having this sit in my room—but it is now in good hands.
Me in the other Hunter Valentine shirt I bought.
Yay for supporting awesome music. Go to a show, and buy merch. The bands you love deserve it.
And here’s me wearing my artwork. =]
So let me tell you about my Saturday. (Pictures credited to Amy’s camera, except for a few outside shots taken by mine)
I was hoping that I’d get all my students at the studio so that I’d have more disposable cash for the show.. but guess what my grand total was for the day? One student. So how much money did I make? Twelve dollars. So I finished at the studio super early, and went home to eat and get ready for the show. I had about 4 hours to kill before getting picked up by Steph.
I made sure that my drawings, and tickets were all in one spot. Made sure I put on deodorant (seriously). I wasn’t sure what to do with my hair, because my plans for getting a haircut on Friday fell through. I ended up putting it up. I tried to look my best as possible (although I knew that after all the jumping around inside would cause my makeup to just look horrible at the end). But what I was really worried about was standing in the rain with my drawings. So Steph said she’d bring a plastic bag big enough to hold it (the drawing is 18”x24”).
So I get picked up at my house, and then we’re on our way to pick up the others. We finally hit the 101 to West Hollywood. Steph put on Hunter Valentine on her iPhone because her radio doesn’t work haha. It started to POUR pretty badly, and at one point there was some hail. So since there was a lovely downpour there was even lovelier traffic to go with it. About an hour on the freeway, I get the tweet that HV just arrived and there were already kids waiting in the rain. I wanted to be one of those people getting there super early just to get in first. Haha, but, we were still stuck in traffic.
Well, we get there eventually. Around 6 ish? Something like that. We drop Craig and Amy off to stand in line while Steph and I go get parked.
The anxiety was getting to me and I was really craving a cigarette, but Steph grabbed my drawings and we went to join the others to stand in line. There were a number of people in front of us that were luckily standing under the awning, while we were getting sprinkled on.
We were right by the stairs and the emergency exit/loading doors, in the driveway where the bands pull up to park.
(The first white van is theirs)
So I’m just standing there, and all of a sudden Steph is like, “Isn’t that Kiyomi over there?” And I’m like where?! I look over and I stupidly freeze and can’t even say anything because I see someone in a hat, and green jacket and I wanted to blurt out “KIYOMI!!!!!!” but it didn’t happen.
Steph says, “The one in the hat, call her!” So I take my drawings from Steph and I’m like huh huh hey.. Hey wait!.. hey.. Uh.. something like that. I know my friends can impersonate it way better because at that moment I blacked out and it was a total out of body experience. I somehow manage to get her attention before she walks back into the venue, and she’s like Oh hey, or something like that, and walks over to me.
I don’t remember what I say to her, but something along the lines of I have something to give you.
At that moment, Adrienne walks over to us too and I’m like omg. I take out the framed portrait of Kiyomi playing her guitar, and she said, “Oh this is the one you’ve been working on!”
I told her yeah that’s the one, and I have one more in here but I don’t want it to get wet, but I let her peak at it and she just says “Wow..”.
I smile and she looks at me and says, “Can I have a hug?” And of course I’m like yeah! So she hugs me and I’m like ohmyfuckinggod, and of course Amy takes a picture of that too.
Then Adrienne sticks her hand out to me, and says, “Hi, I’m Adrienne” in such a cute way. I was like awwwww.
Kiyomi then says that she has to get back to loading their gear inside, and that she’d put my drawings in the van to keep it safe. She leaves saying that she’ll see us later. So I just smiled because I didn’t know what to say anymore and at one point I remember Amy screaming the scream that I wasn’t able to belt out hahaha. Even though we were stuck in traffic and weren’t the first ones at the door—we still had THE PERFECT timing—or else I don’t know if I would’ve been able to take all that stuff in.
(I just died)
Just super red.
All my nerves were just going crazy so I looked at Steph and said I need a cigarette. And then her and I walked to the liquor store to get her some Excedrin for her ear (she recently got her conch pierced) and a beer to down it with.
We then stood there in line for about an hour or so. Joined by rain. Lots of rain. We entertained ourselves by doing the oompa loompa dance.
Finally doors open and I’m about to get to the line to get inside, BUT they tell me that I can’t bring my camera inside. I’m like wtf, why do you tell me this NOW right before we’re allowed to go inside. So Steph and I took it back to the car, and we get back to the door, and the other two already have gotten inside but they have our tickets. The guy was about to not let us in because it seemed like we were cutting in line but I had proof because I already had my drink ticket that I bought. The guy lets us in and I’m like ughhhh cuz I don’t have my camera and I was hoping to have all these amazing live shots. I should’ve just hid it in my bag the whole time. But yeah by the time we’re in there, the front spots were all taken, and I’m like DAMN IT!!!!! Then I spot the merch table, and walk over there and guess what I see hanging on the wall? MY SHIRT!!!!! And I’m like fuck it’s my shirt!! But we weren’t able to get it yet. So I try to be as close to the stage as possible, but I’m so fucking short and so many heads were in my way.
I take off my wet jacket and stuff it in my bag. Then Steph’s like, “Did Kiyomi cut her hair?” And I’m like yeah, I think so, why? And again she points her out to me—this time she’s wearing a brown leather jacket, her hair is styled up and has eyeliner on, and I’m like oh shit. So I walk over there with Amy trailing behind me, trying not to be obviously nervous but I think I failed. She was standing with this girl, I think it was her girlfriend, but she sees me as I wave at her and says, “Hey girl!” Again, she leans in for a hug and my mind goes omg while she says, “Finally got out of the rain?” I laugh and say yeah. Kiyomi introduces herself to Amy and shakes her hand, “Hi, I’m Kiyomi”
She then introduces the girl standing with her, she was super cute with short hair, glasses and just a gorgeous outfit, “This is Ingrid” and I shake her hand and say hi. I look over to the merch booth and point out my shirt, saying it looks amazing. Kiyomi’s like yeah, here let me get you one, what’s your size? And again at this point I don’t remember exactly what was said. She walks into the merch booth and says how it’s one of their more popular shirts, and how it was the only one they sold in New Mexico. I’m just in awe and say how amazing it was to have the opportunity to design a shirt. She replies saying, “Yeah! If you ever want to design more shirts for us, go for it!” I say something about how I wish I was closer to the stage and she said, “Well I’m sure it’ll clear up by the time we get up there”. Then she talks about how the girl shirts run small and that I might want a large because I have huge boobs like her and then, SHE GRABS HER LEFT BOOB in front of my face. So I can’t help but look there and chuckle (especially because it literally was in my face because she’s tall and I’m super short). She takes out a medium, and it seemed to be a good fit but I like my shirts to be loose fitting, so I asked for a large. She grabs the large and I’m like wow.. finally. In my hands, my shirt. I thank her again, and she says that she has to go grab something to eat. So she leaves again, and now I’m even more stoked because it was what I have been waiting for (other than seeing them perform).
I show off my shirt to Steph and Craig, like YEAH IT’S MY SHIRT!!!!!!! And then Steph’s like how much is it? And I say I don’t know, mine was free haha why would they charge me for something I made? Hahaha. Anyways, I clench the shirt as the other bands play. The Harm played first. Steph brings over a round of PBR’s for us, and things feel even better. Polaris at Noon (I enjoyed them a lot). I accidently may have dripped some of my beer on this tall guy who stood in front of me—but I didn’t care because he was too tall and blocking my view. Then there was this two man band called The Ferocious Few, they were pretty awesome as well. Craig brought the second round of PBR’s. By the way, these first 3 bands all had something in common—Mustache’s.
Then it was time for Vanity Theft. We failed at being able to get closer to the stage—these bitches in front were LAYING on the floor.. like what the fuck. If you’re going to be in front then STAND. STAND LIKE YOU DESERVE TO BE IN FRONT. And it didn’t help that they were heavier set people too. Amy and I could’ve easily taken up one of their spots—and truly would’ve shown appreciation for the music being performed because they were literally SLEEPING through Vanity Theft’s performance. How can you sleep through their performance? THEY’RE HOT AND AMAZING. Really though, they’re all gorgeous. Needless to say, I fell in love with Vanity Theft. They got me dancing. And I would see Kiyomi (who changed again) and Laura on the balcony, watching over the crowd and their friends on stage.
Finally, it was time for Hunter Valentine to take the stage. Again, I couldn’t get any closer because these bitches were being lazy on the floor. Laura wearing a black button up with suspenders, Adrienne in a white shirt, and Kiyomi in a white blazer with a black striped tank underneath. They started the set with Jimmy Dean. Followed by Treadmills of Love, The Stalker, Staten Island Dream Tour, Scarface, Boy’s Club, Treadmills of Love, a cover of “Your Love” (where they had Vanity Theft come on stage and sing with them), Ted’s Collision, Revenge, and ended with Barbara Jean (I think I mentioned all of them..). I screamed when they played Ted’s Collision because that’s what I’ve been DYING to hear live (Well I pretty much screamed all the lyrics to every song). Steph really wanted to hear Barbara Jean so we both screamed the rest of our vocal chords away. These girls are fucking amazing live. I strongly recommend them. Listening to their cd is great, but they just have an enormous stage presence—Kiyomi with her raw vocals that struck my soul, Laura’s hard ass drum beats that pumped my heart, Adrienne’s flowing bass that made my head groove—AND SUPER CUTE SMILE omg, I fell in love with that smile—so fucking cute! They give it their all with each song. Love, love, love them. I strongly was annoyed by the people in front of me that wouldn’t even bob their head to the beat, but just seeing these girls up there rockin’ out made me forget about that.
So right after their set, Steph, Craig, Amy and I all go to wait in line for the merch. Of course they all wanted to buy the shirt that I designed haha =] Adrienne walks by and I’m like yay it’s Adrienne, and she starts talking to the fans and selling shirts, cds, and dvds. Then Steph gets up to her and asks to buy my shirt. Soon enough Laura walks by too, and I scream her name to get her attention and she looks over at me happily screaming back. Haha, I love that. So I get up to the booth and talk to Laura, while Amy gets helped by Adrienne, telling her that she wants to buy my shirt. So of course I was like, “Yeah! She wants the one I made!” And Laura thanked me for the design, something else was said but I can’t remember. Then I say that I want another shirt, and point to the red shirt with yellow writing with the panther on it. I wanted it because on Girl/Girl Scene, Tucky Williams wears the black shirt version of it, and Laura goes off on how they’re in the next episode. I’m like I KNOW! I CAN’T WAIT, Tucky’s so hot, I have a drawing of her too!
So Laura asks, “Oh yeah? You want me to give it to her??” But I was like aww man, I wish, but it’s not finished yet! Then she says she has to check what sizes they have of the panther shirt and walks off to grab them. Adrienne then helps Craig, who buys my shirt, and a cd—and Adrienne gives him a deal that for buying both she’d throw in the dvd for free, along with a sticker—of course Craig takes the offer, all that merch for just 25 bucks!
She comes out with an adult small—I hold it up against me and I’m like YEAH, I want this one, and how much for the dvd?? Laura shook her head, saying the dvd was free as well after buying the panther shirt. So gave her the money, and got out of the way so that more people could buy things. We kept close though, right by Vanity Theft—Amy even got a picture with them and talked to them haha. I was super shy and didn’t know what to say, they were all too gorgeous for me haha, but they were super nice too.
I watched Adrienne walk around, and Amy and I talked about how she has the cutest smile. We were having trouble not knowing who to look at while they were on stage. Do we watch the sexy screams from Kiyomi, that cute ass smile from Adrienne, or Laura rock out like no other in the back? Well, it also didn’t help that I really did have to choose who to watch because of all the people in front of me blocking my view—and I’m just too short. Anyways. Seeing that smile made me really want to hug her. So Steph would push me towards her, but then I’d get super shy and I DON’T KNOW WHY! She finally walks our way so I speak up and say, “Adrienne! Can I have a hug?” And she says of course, but I probably smell bad—and she didn’t, she smelled fine haha she’s cute. She hugged all of us one after the other, and then went to the bar to get a drink.
Then I went over to Kiyomi and asked to get a picture, and she said sure but there was one girl waiting to take a picture first. So I took their picture for the other girl, and then Kiyomi motioned me to come over and hugged me one last time. She asked me if I enjoyed the show, and of course I was like duh, it was so good, and thanked her for playing Ted’s Collision because I love it so much. So Kiyomi poses with Amy and I, while Craig takes the picture—and it took like two shots to get a decent one.
She asks if we want individual ones, and I’m like sure! So Kiyomi takes the camera from Craig, saying, “Here, let me see that” she grabs me and takes the picture herself
—checks it, says one more and takes another one, checks it and says, “Yeah that’s sexy.”
(I think it’s impossible to look decent next to Kiyomi haha—next time I’ll put on a serious face and smile with my eyes like a badass) Then she grabs Amy and does the same. Haha, she’s amazing. She then talks about the band that was playing—100 Monkeys, and something about Twilight. *shrug*
We track down Adrienne again, and I ask her for a picture too. She was going to take a picture with just me because she put both her arms around me haha, and I unconsciously said out loud ohOHwow. But then Adrienne realized that Amy was standing right next to her on the other side, so she took a picture with both of us.
(Okay, wow, my boobs are huge.)
Then she asked how I found out about Hunter Valentine. Well there were two answers—first it was watching Girl/Girl scene (which I heard about through a great friend) on their website and seeing their band ad on there, and then reading a blog entry from Arlan’s site yourdailylesbianmoment.blogspot.com that sparked my interest. From there it was all downhill. Watched their videos on youtube. Saw their pictures—like the black and white one of Kiyomi that I eventually drew (and gave her that night). I didn’t tell her all of this because it was loud.
Anyways, she asks me what I think of Tucky Williams—and I’m like I LOVE HER, and I have a drawing of her with me. I show it to her, and Adrienne takes me over to the bar where there’s better light to take a picture of the drawing in my sketchbook with her blackberry. She then sent it to Tucky and Laura, and I was like, well where is Laura anyway? (I wanted my hug from her! There was no way I wasn’t going to get a hug from all of them). Then I finally spot her by the merch booth again and make my way down there.
I tap her arm, and motion for a hug. She comes and I give her a tight hug ;] Haha.
See, I totally wanted my Laura Hug. Wasn’t going to leave without it.
(Rawr, Laura’s bra ;])
Then I also show her the sketch of Tucky, and she proceeds to also take a picture of it with her phone. Oh, and then I told her to give Tucky a hug for me the next time she sees her. Haha, Laura better not forget—well, I’m sure she’ll hug her anyway, regardless if it’s for me or not hahaha, it’s all good.
So at that point I think it was time to leave. I wasn’t really interested in staying for 100 Monkeys, and Steph’s headache was coming back. Although, I really wanted to like stay as long as possible to get more chances to talk to the girls of HV, I was pretty beat too, my feet were killing me, and I knew I needed to get home.
We hit traffic again, and it started to pour, but we all made it back safely.
This was my night guys. I loved it. Thank you Hunter Valentine. Thank you Kiyomi for choosing my design. Thank you, thank you.
And yes I think you’re pretty.
They started the show with Jimmy Dean <3 (this isn’t my video, but this is the show that I went to last night)
My shirt looks amazing. I’m too tired to post anything more than this right now.
But here’s a few bullets that I’ll go into detail later:
Hunter Valentine, you are amazing.
There’s a lot more, some things to rant about the unappreciative crowd, but I’ll get into that tomorrow.
"Alright has anybody ever fucked a trainwreck before?"
